What is the Goal within the Game?

The task of the participants in the game is to respond to the customer's request with an quotation within the allotted time. In order to create the offer for the customer, information from the Sales, R&D, Purchasing, Production, Shipping and Finance departments is required.

At the beginning, the participants are confronted with inefficiencies in the process. By introducing various Lean principles and Lean tools, participants will playfully improve their quotation process.


What is the Game round content?

Each round of the game contains easy-to-understand content that is supplemented with explanatory videos


#01 - Introduction to Lean Management & Office

Let's start very smoothly and introduce the main idea and principles of Lean Management

#02 - Get used to the Game & 1st Simulation Game Round

The participants become familiar with the game and the individual roles in the game. Let's start with the first simulation process

#03 - The 5S & Visualization Workshop in the Office

The team will get used to the importance of 5S and performs the very first 5S workshop

#04 - Record and analyze the Value Stream of the Quotation Process

What does the process flow look like? Create an understanding of the visualization of process chains using Value Stream Design.

Discuss in the team and bring the process to the board.

#05 - Implement the Team Board

Introduce the Team Board and create transparency for the entire team. In this game round, further content is brought to the board and the results of the game round are recorded before and after the game rounds.

#06 - Start the 2nd Simulation Game Round

Start the second round of simulation and check what effect the previous measures have on the process flow. Afterwards, hold your first team meeting and the team board.

#07 - Introduce the FIFO principle and One-Piece-Flow & start the 3rd Simulation Game Round

In this round of games, important lean principles such as one-piece flow and FIFO (First-In-First-Out) are introduced. Let’s simulate the process in this game round and evaluate the strengths and advantages of implemented One-Piece-Flow.

#08 - Implement Standardization by focusing on the Customers' needs & 4th Simulation Game Round

In this round of games we present the corporate goals, which are based on our customer needs. Participants experience the advantages of standardization within processes.

#09 - Introduce the Idea Management System

During the game, we have collected Idea Cards with ideas for Improvement in some of our previous game rounds.

But we still have to clarify how handle these great ideas for improvement. This is where the Idea Management System comes in.

#10 - The Final Group Discussion & Team Commitment

It has been a exciting journey but we are finally getting to an end of the Lean Office Game. Many methods and tools of Lean Management have been introduced. Let’s have a final group discussion in our Team Board.
