Start with a Chaotic Factory Process
Participants take on live production roles in an unoptimized environment and experience material waste, long waiting times, overproduction, uncontrolled WIP, unclear roles and severe bottlenecks.
Run a 4-hour Lean manufacturing game with your team and make waste, flow, bottlenecks, 5S, Kanban and continuous improvement visible in a realistic production environment.

What content is taught
The Lean Factory Training Game is an interactive Lean simulation for team trainings and workshops. In a 4-hour session for up to 12 participants, you become the Lean Trainer. The learning content is structured into ten consecutive game rounds.
Game Round 1: Introduction to Lean Manufacturing 5 min
Understand the basics of Lean and the seven types of waste before the hands-on simulation starts.
Game Round 2: Standard Work 15 min
Start the first assembly sequence and get familiar with operator roles and work instructions.
Game Round 3: The 5S Workshop 30 min
Apply visualization, organization, and standardization in the first structured 5S workshop.
Game Round 4: The Lean Layout Workshop 15 min
Redesign the layout based on Lean principles and make material flow easier to understand.
Game Round 5: SMED Change-Over Workshop 30 min
Analyze the change-over process, map time losses, and improve setup activities step by step.
Game Round 6: Lean Logistics and Route Train 30 min
Replace unstable transport with a safer, more predictable route train supply concept.
Game Round 7: FIFO and Supermarket 30 min
Introduce supermarket logic and smoother material replenishment directly on the shop floor.
Game Round 8: Kanban and One-Piece Flow in Action 15 min
Reduce buffers between stations and expose bottlenecks immediately through pull and one-piece flow.
Game Round 9: Design for Manufacturing 15 min
Review the process from a broader customer and product perspective to remove avoidable waste.
Game Round 10: Final Group Discussion and Commitment 15 min
Reflect on the learning effects and translate the improvements into next steps for the team.

Theoretical PowerPoint slides do not change shopfloor behavior. This physical lean manufacturing game makes process bottlenecks, material waste and bad workflow tangible in hands-on factory training. Your team does not just listen - they experience continuous improvement.

Workshop Deep-Dive
Participants take on live factory roles, measure real baseline KPIs and then improve the system step by step with practical Lean methods.
Participants take on live production roles in an unoptimized environment and experience material waste, long waiting times, overproduction, uncontrolled WIP, unclear roles and severe bottlenecks.
Teams actively measure output, lead time, WIP levels, quality, delivery performance, operator workload and factory profit or costs.
Participants implement 5S workplace organization, waste reduction, layout optimization, continuous flow, Pull/Kanban systems, SMED, supermarkets, milk runs and Heijunka.
Teams test the new system in real time and immediately see how their decisions improve performance, reduce stress and stabilize the workflow.
The workshop closes with a structured reflection on where the same bottlenecks and waste appear in your real production lines.
LeanActivity was founded in 2016 by the two Lean Coaches Martin Schneider and Sergen Retzep. Since then, the award-winning simulation game has been distributed to universities, developed further with consultancies, and tested successfully with manufacturers all around the globe.
As a result, the game has gained international recognition and strong credibility across many industries.

Michael Turner
Director of Operations, United Kingdom
"The LeanActivity Factory Game gave our supervisors and line leads a common language for flow and pull within one afternoon. Instead of debating theory, the team saw the bottlenecks live and started discussing concrete actions for our plant."

Alyssa Bennett
Continuous Improvement Manager, United States
"We used the simulation during a multi-site training program, and it immediately raised engagement. The 5S, Kanban and changeover topics were no longer abstract concepts, because participants could connect every improvement round to real shopfloor challenges."

Daniel Brooks
Manufacturing Training Lead, United States
"What impressed us most was how quickly the group moved from observation to problem solving. The game created exactly the kind of hands-on learning environment we need when preparing teams for new production systems and Lean rollouts."

The game is designed for 6 to 16 players. It includes 8 active roles such as assembly worker or logistics operator, while additional participants can join as Gemba observers and actively contribute to discussions.
For groups larger than 16, two game sets can be used in parallel in the same room. That creates healthy competition and keeps everyone engaged.
A full session usually lasts about 4 hours, but the format is flexible. Executive teams sometimes prefer a condensed 60-minute version focused on selected topics such as SMED or Lean Logistics.
Consulting firms and internal trainers also stretch the program over multiple days when they want to combine the game with additional content.
The game is ideal for companies that actively work with Lean Management and want to bring Lean thinking to life on the shop floor. It acts as an eye-opener and helps teams connect Lean ideas with real enthusiasm.
It is also used by universities, business schools, and consulting firms, making it a versatile training format across different contexts.
We ship the LeanActivity Factory Game worldwide. Our logistics partners handle export and customs documentation, and all shipments are dispatched from Germany within the EU.
Delivery can take only a few days within Europe and up to around 4 weeks for some international destinations.
The Factory Game consists of 10 game rounds, each centered around a key Lean Management principle:
This step-by-step structure makes Lean practical, visible, and easy to experience for all participants.
The game comes in a durable transport trolley containing all required materials, including the factory warehouse, supermarket, route train, playing figures, cards, and documents.
You also get access to the online platform with training videos, supporting materials, and the Train-the-Trainer course, so the game is ready to use from day one.
Yes. A comprehensive Train-the-Trainer program is included and guides facilitators step by step through each round.
Detailed online resources and direct video support from the LeanActivity team help even first-time trainers deliver the game confidently.
The online platform is the trainer's central support tool. It provides videos, detailed instructions, and explanations of the Lean methods used in the game.
It acts like a digital co-trainer that guides facilitation round by round and helps ensure consistent quality.
Yes. Trainers can focus on selected rounds depending on the audience, whether that is production teams, logistics staff, or executive management.
This flexibility allows organizations to tailor the learning journey to their own Lean transformation goals.
Absolutely. Many companies use the game in executive workshops as a strategic eye-opener.
Top managers often benefit from a condensed version that highlights Lean principles in action without requiring a full day of play.
Yes. Consulting firms worldwide use the Factory Game to enrich Lean programs for their clients.
It allows them to combine their own content with the game and expand workshops over multiple days while keeping the learning highly interactive.
Unlike traditional training formats, the Factory Game combines realistic production scenarios, hands-on problem solving, and immediate feedback loops.
That creates a strong bridge between theory and practice and makes Lean easier to understand, more engaging, and more motivating.
The Factory Game is not limited to production employees. It also creates value for Sales, HR, Finance, Administration, and other non-production teams.
When these departments participate, they gain a clearer understanding of how value is created in the factory and how their own roles connect to it. This often improves cross-functional collaboration and commitment to Lean initiatives.
No. Both games are fully independent and come with their own materials and setups.
The Factory Game focuses on production processes, while the Office Game addresses administrative environments. They can be combined, but each works perfectly well on its own.
