Station 1 of the LeanActivity Factory Game: Ben at his workbench, mesh pallets with parts and the forklift

Try it right here: you are Ben at station 1. Grab the parts, assemble them and build your first cordless screwdriver.

From the makers of the LeanActivity Factory Game

Trusted by 1500+ Lean professionals and production managers worldwide.

Inside the game

A real factory. In your browser.

Every player runs a station or the logistics of a factory that builds cordless screwdrivers in two models. What happens in one place is felt everywhere else.

Round 12
The whole hallFour stations, racks, logistics and the shipping dock, shared by the whole team.
At the benchGrab the parts, assemble, pass the unit on.
In logisticsKeep every station supplied, or watch it wait.

Why online

Lean training without the logistics.

Everything that makes the LeanActivity Factory Game work, now in your browser: the same aha moments, without the kit, the setup and the travel.

  • Available instantly

Buy today, train today. No shipping, no game kit, no waiting for a delivery.

  • No installation, no setup

Players open the game in their browser and join. Nothing to install, nothing to build up, no room to prepare.

  • Remote or in the room

Every player joins from their own computer: in the training room, at home or at another site.

  • A complete training in 2 hours

From chaos to flow in one session, with measurable results after every shift.

  • Made for a moderator

One host leads the session, in the training room or in a video call such as MS Teams.

  • 2 to 20 players in teams of 5

Up to four teams, each running its own factory, all at the same time.

  • Bots fill the free seats

Fewer players? Bots take over the free stations. To try the game, you can even play alone.

How it works

From chaos to flow in 12 rounds.

Five shifts in which your team produces, and seven workshops in which it changes the factory. Your team does not listen to Lean. It plays Lean, sees the results and wants the same at work.

5 shifts: the team produces7 workshops: the team improves
  1. Round 1: the forklift drives through a cluttered hall between boxes, barrels and cabinets
    01Shift

    The chaotic factory

Mesh pallets all over the hall, long walks and a forklift that cannot keep up. Your team runs the first shift and feels every problem.

  2. Round 2: sorted-out items with red tags on the red tag area of the hall
    02Workshop

    5S

Everything that does not belong goes to the red tag area, and every station tidies up.

  3. Round 3: the whole hall from above with the stations still scattered
    03Workshop

    Lean layout

On the hall plan the team pulls the scattered stations together into one line. The walking distance per unit drops sharply.

  4. Round 4: stations 1 to 3 side by side in a line, with pallets between them
    04Shift

    The new line

The second shift runs in the new layout: tidy stations, short ways, pallets between the stations.

  5. Round 5: the shadow board for the changeover at station 1
    05Workshop

    SMED

Changing over between the Light and Pro models costs time. With a shadow board or a one-touch slide, 20 seconds become 12 or even 1.

  6. Round 6: station 1 puts a unit on the roller conveyor to station 2
    06Workshop

    Plan one-piece flow

Roller conveyors replace the pallets between the stations: each unit goes on to the next station as soon as it is done.

  7. Round 7: units roll on conveyors from station to station along the line
    07Shift

    One-piece flow

Units roll from station to station one by one. No more piles of half-finished work in between.

  8. 08Workshop

    Time study & line balancing

The team records the work content live at every station, then moves work steps until every station works below the takt.

  9. Round 9: the turned motor stops at the guide groove of the housing
    09Workshop

    Poka-Yoke

A motor goes in the wrong way round. The team tests three countermeasures and picks the one that makes the mistake impossible.

  10. Round 10: the balanced line runs evenly from station to station
    10Shift

    The balanced line

The balanced, error-proofed line runs at an even pace. Every station has about the same amount of work.

  11. Round 11: the route train at the supermarket racks
    11Workshop

    Plan the route train

The racks move to a fixed route, and a route train brings the parts from the supermarket instead of the forklift.

  12. Round 12: the route train stops at the racks of station 1
    12Shift

    The Lean factory

The final shift: the route train supplies every station on its loop. Now compare the numbers with your first shift.

What your team learns

12 Lean tools, put into practice.

Every tool is introduced when the factory needs it, so players understand why it matters before they use it.

  • 5S

Sort, set in order, shine: clear out what does not belong and give every part its place.

  • Lean Layout

Move stations, pallets and paths until material flows and walking distances shrink.

  • Visualization

Make status, flow and problems visible at a glance for everyone on the floor.

  • 8 Types of Waste

Spot transport, inventory, motion, waiting, overproduction, overprocessing, defects and unused talent.

  • Continuous Improvement

Run, measure, improve, repeat: every shift builds on the one before.

  • SMED

Cut changeover times so that small batches and a fast response become possible.

  • Poka-Yoke

Error-proof the work so that mistakes cannot happen in the first place.

  • Obeya

One shared room for KPIs, problems and decisions: the team steers the factory together.

  • Route Train

A milk run supplies every station on a fixed route instead of a forklift chasing orders.

  • Small Material Boxes

Replace bulky mesh pallets with small boxes right at the point of use.

  • One-Piece Flow

Pass units on one by one instead of in batches and watch the lead time drop.

  • Buffer Elimination

Remove the piles between stations and bring the real bottlenecks to light.

The transformation

Watch your factory change.

The same hall, the same people, the same product. Only the way you work changes, and the numbers follow.

Round 1

The chaotic factory

  • Mesh pallets scattered across the hall
  • Long walks for every single part
  • Piles of half-finished units between stations
  • A forklift that is always somewhere else
  • Nobody sees where the factory loses time

Round 12

Your Lean factory

  • Every part within reach in small boxes
  • A route train on a fixed, predictable loop
  • One-piece flow without buffers
  • Status and problems visible to everyone
  • Higher output with less effort, in numbers

Measured after every shift: output, on-time delivery, value-adding time, work in progress and more. Your team sees in black and white what Lean is worth.

Questions & answers

Good to know.

Something else on your mind? Ask us directly.

What do players need?

A computer with a modern browser and an internet connection. There is nothing to install and nothing to set up. The game is designed for desktop and laptop screens.

How many people can play?

From 2 to 20 players in teams of 5, led by a moderator who hosts the session, for example in an MS Teams call. Bots take over every station nobody plays, so a smaller group always runs the complete factory. To try the game, you can also play alone.

How long does a training take?

About two hours, from the chaotic first shift to the Lean factory, including the discussions between the rounds.

How does a session work?

A moderator hosts the session, in the room or in a video call such as MS Teams. The players join with a link or a code and play five shifts and seven improvement workshops in teams of 5. Step by step: how the Online Game works.
